Obituary of Rhodena M. Sullivan

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rhodena Marie Sullivan, 77 of Waldo. Rhodena passed away on March 10, 2024 at a nursing facility in Augusta after a long battle with Dementia.

Rhodena was born on July 31, 1946 in Rockland, Maine to Carolyn and Aubert Leigher.

Rhodena was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and was loved by all who knew her. One of her favorite things to do was to spend time with her loved ones. Rhodena loved to go shopping and to yard sales. Rhodena was very skilled at many things such as quilting,crocheting, cooking, gardening, and much more. She worked hard all her life in local shoe factories , but mostly as a cook at local restaraunts and nursing homes.

Rhodena was pre-deceased by her parents, Carolyn (Fish) Leigher, and Aubert Leigher, sister Muriel Knowlton, brothers Lloyd Leigher, Bernard Leigher, Frank Leigher, and Richard Leigher. She was also pre-deceased by two special friends, Lois Hooper and Eileen Gallagher.

Rhodena is survived by daughters Sonia Kaufmann and partner John Cranouski, Laurie Kenney and partner George Shanks, Sherry Libby and partner Larry Metcalf, and Valerie Curtis and husband Craig Curtis, grandchildren Jeffrey Mitchell, Joshua Kaufmann, Chasity Kuhn, Kayla Johnston, Michael Steele, Malerie Clements, Lindsey Kenney, and Shawn Kenney, and great-grandchildren Parker and Connor Johnston and Delaney Kiernan. Rhodena is also survived by many neices and nephews, too many to name, and a very special friend Pam Grant.

Rhodena will be greatly missed by her daughters and grandchildren who adored her, and her extended family and friends. There are also many people who referred to her as “momma Rhodena” that she took in and loved as her own.

At Rhodena's request, there will be no funeral services, but the family will be having a celebration of her life at a later date.
