Obituary of Loretta M. Nash

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Loretta Marie Nash passed away on Saturday January 6,2024 surrounded by her daughters, at the age of 89. Loretta was born in Rockland on May 18,1934 to Dorothy and Loren Harvey Sr. Loretta grew up in Rockland, and attended Rockland Area schools.

In the summer of 1955 Loretta met the love of her life, Franklin Nash, while he was home on leave from the Army.  It was love at first sight! They married in April of 1956, and shared 63 blissful years together until Franklins passing in June of 2019.

Loretta and Franklin settled on Maverick St in Rockland, raising their 4 daughters. Loretta loved being a mother, staying at home to raise their children. When her children became a bit older, she worked alongside her grandmother packing sardines at area plants.

The Nash house was always filled with her children’s friends, along with much love and laughter! Loretta would pack the station wagon with children and head off to the beach, ice skating, roller skating etc.

The wife of a police officer, she took great pride in making sure his uniform was always clean and pressed. She was President of the Ladies COP club organization. Franklin always had a lunch made with Love by Loretta. Their girls enjoyed eating lunches with their father at the police station.

Loretta, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing and especially Bingo! She would always bring her daughters along. Every summer the family would attend the Lobster Festival, and vacations to Massachusetts and New Hampshire to visit family. These are memories her daughters will always cherish!

Loretta was always the caregiver, having taken care of her mother, grandmother, and countless friends in their final days.  She also spent countless hours watching her grandchildren while her daughters worked in order for them to provide for their own families.

Loretta was a hard worker with many remarkable moments in her life.  Most remarkable were her qualities that made her a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Loretta was strong, stubborn, caring, supportive, kind, loving and extremely loyal. By example she taught all of us the importance of unconditional love, family, and togetherness.

She spent the final years of her life at Bella Point in Camden were she enjoyed playing poker and making many new friends.

Loretta was predeceased by her husband Franklin, brother Loren, son in law Scott, and grandchildren David, Kilei, Sheldon, Alyssa and Tristan.

She is survived by her daughters Carol (Steve) Carey, Julie Curtis, Pamela (Michael) Gay and Lisa (Buddy) Carleton, her grandchildren Ben, Tiffany, Cassie, Michael, Mitchell, Melissa, Michelle, Evan, Eliza, Jessica, Taylor, Olivia, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister in law Ruth Harvey, dear friend Jean Luizza and numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta shared a special bond with her son in laws. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and sincere appreciation to the staff at Bella Point Camden, and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care of our Beloved Loretta. A special Thank you to Jim Legage who looked after our mother like his own!
