Obituary for Larry E. McKeen

Larry McKeen, 64, of Swanville died Saturday, April 6, 2019, at home surrounded by friends and family singing him towards Heaven’s gates.

Larry was born to Raymond and Eva McKeen. He was predeceased by his older brother, Keith McKeen. Larry is survived by his wife, Diana McKeen; daughter Amber Hamblet and her husband, Nathan; his two grandchildren Addisyn and Kylee Hamblet; sisters Donna Fenton and Debra Johnson, as well as much loved brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Larry spent his lifetime working hard and helping those in need. He worked at the Bucksport paper mill for 25 years before retiring. Larry often gave to several local churches and offered groceries, gas, even room in his home so that others felt cared for, safe, and could see the love of God first hand. Larry was a faith-filled man, always ready to talk about God or local sports.

Larry himself held athletic records for many years at Searsport High. He could be often be spotted throughout the state cheering on nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, children and grandchildren of his own and as well as those of his friends. Larry often included career highlights of his family’s sports careers into everyday conversations, and his eyes sparkled with pride each time.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on April 28, 2019, at Brooks Pentecostal Church. There will be a separate committal service in June at Thorndike Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Larry McKeen Scholarship Fund. Established to help students thrive and have the ability to participate in vocational classes, music lessons, expanded field trip opportunities, and much more. Checks may be made out to Brooks Pentecostal Church.
